The past week, I have been interning with the Marketing and Knowledge Resources Shared Services. The catch with that is I had to work during New York hours, that means night shift here. It was rough. I think it actually wouldn't be too bad if I was doing it for a longer period of time, but one week was definitely a struggle. However, marketing was one of my favorite departments just because I learned so much that I will be able to take back home with me to my job at Miami, for future websites that I create, and posts that I write. Now we will be in Finance Shared Services until the end of our internship.
Also, we got to go on our first weekend trip to Coron! The flight to Busuanga was around an hour from Manila. We left Saturday morning. Our hotel, the Funny Lion, included a round trip airport pickup. It was a newer resort and had an infinity pool that backed up to a mangrove habitat, a (delicious) restaurant, and an observation deck that doubled as a bar at night. Our exploring began with a tour of the town of Coron. It included the Mt. Tapyas Viewdeck (721 steps high!), Maquinit Hotsprings, Coron Baywalk, and Centennial Shrine. The views from Mt. Tapyas kept getting better with every step which made it totally worth it. The hotsprings is the only saltwater hotspring in the Philippines. It felt as if all of your tension was melting away when you stepped in.
We were there for the whole day on Sunday so we took the Coron Island Ecotour. It was full of snorkeling and swimming at the Siete Pecados Marine Park, Kayangan Lake, Twin Lagoons, Calachuchi Beach, and Coron Coral Gardens. I have never seen clearer, more blue water in my life. Since we were going during the rainy season, our tour guide said the water was normally more clear than what we experienced. I couldn't even imagine it. The reefs were teeming with life and the experience was absolutely perfect.
Our trip back to Manila was interesting to say the least. First, I forgot my passport at our hotel so we had to drive back to get it. Then, our flight kept getting delayed (what ended up to be 7 hours!) because of congestion in Manila. But no matter what, it was worth it. The whole trip was absolutely breathtaking!
This coming weekend we will be visiting Bohol. I am very excited for my next tropical island adventure!
